Checkers custard, Jumia, Milo, Glo, win Best Value for Money Brand 2023

Leading custard brand, Checkers custard, e-commerce giant, Jumia, beverage king, Milo and telecommunications service provider, Glo on Thursday emerged Best Value for Money Brands at the 2023 edition of the Consumers Value Awards, held last Thursday, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja.

The brands emerged victorious after being voted Best Value for Money Brands by consumers in the various categories they operate.

In the custard category, Checkers custard emerged Best Value for Money Custard Brand 2023 after pulling 94% votes.

Interestingly, the custard brand won in the same category at the maiden edition of the award last year after amassing about 63% votes from the total votes casts by consumers.

E-commerce platform, Jumia beat other brands in the e-commerce category with 91% votes to emerge the Best Value for Money Brand 2023 while beverage brand, Milo snatched the Best Value for Money Brand of the Year 2023, with 70% votes.

Others were Glo who got two awards; Best Value for Money Telecommunications Service Brand 2023 with 56% and Best Value for Money Data and Internet Service Provider Brand 2023 with 53%.

Fifty other brands from different categories were also honoured in the award night which is gradually attaining the status of the consumers Oscars awards.

The brands include, BIC, Best Value for Money Writing Pen Brand of the Year; Lipton, Best Value for Money Tea Bag Brand (Tea Bag category) and Opay, voted Best Value for Money Virtual Bank Brand 2023 with 76% votes in the Virtual Bank categories.

The glamorous event which was the second edition haven debuted last year, was organised by Brand Xchange, and was attended by some of the biggest names in the Integrated marketing communications space and allied sectors.

Among the dignitaries present were heads of PR agencies, brand managers/handlers representatives of different regulatory agencies among which are Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Federal Competition and Consumers Protection Council (FCCPC), and a representative of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

In his welcome address, Akonte Ekine, Chief Analyst, BrandXchange, said, this year’s event have been nothing short of extraordinary.

“For three months, consumers across the country cast their votes, carefully considering which brands provided the best value for their hard-earned money.

“Today, we proudly announce that over 50 brands have emerged victorious as the best value for money brands, for the second time, we are grateful to have you share this experience of validating brand efficacy through consumer (your) votes,” he said.

Continuing he noted, “these brands have not only met but exceeded the expectations of discerning consumers, consistently delivering products and services that resonate with the very heart of what the Consumer Satisfaction Index stands for – unwavering dedication to consumer happiness and contentment.

“The badge of honour that these brands will receive today is not just a symbol; it’s a reflection of their relentless commitment to consumer-centricity. It’s a salute to the tireless efforts they have put into understanding and fulfilling the needs of the modern Nigerian consumer,” he added.

In his goodwill message, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, praised the idea behind the award.

“The theme of this years’ Consumers Value Awards “Consumer Satisfaction Index” speaks volumes in today’s business ecosystem.
