First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Abdulrahman, others to attend the 1st Nigeria Women Peace and Democracy Summit & Awards 2026
First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu will lead an estimated 3,000 delegates that include top government functionaries, corporate organisations and political heavyweights to attend the 1st Nigeria Women Peace and Democracy Summit & Awards 2026.
The summit with the theme: “Women as Catalysts for Peace, Democracy and Inclusive Governance,” is scheduled to hold on Friday, November 13, 2026, at the African Hall, Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Hosted by Princess Edna Azura, National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Nigeria, the Nigeria Women Peace and Democracy Summit is designed as a high-level national dialogue featuring policy conversations, leadership engagements, peace building sessions, interfaith discussions, youth and women forums, and strategic partnerships involving government institutions, security agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders, the private sector, development organizations, diplomatic missions, and international bodies.
A major highlight will be the Nigeria Women Peace and Democracy Awards, celebrating exceptional Nigerians, institutions, development partners, humanitarian organizations, and women leaders whose outstanding contributions have strengthened peace, democracy, women’s empowerment, humanitarian service, and nation-building.
According to a statement from the organisers, this Summit elevates Nigeria onto the global stage by creating one of Africa’s largest women-led platforms dedicated exclusively to peace building, democratic participation, gender equality, and inclusive governance. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 5 and 16 and the African Union Agenda 2063, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to building peaceful, just, and inclusive societies.
“For nearly seven decades, NCWS has remained Nigeria’s foremost women’s organization and a respected member of the International Council of Women (ICW), representing millions of women through professional bodies, rural cooperatives, faith-based organizations, women with disabilities, market associations, and civil society groups across Nigeria and the diaspora,” the statement signed by Sucex Ibeh reads.
“We invite the Federal Government, state governments, corporate organizations, diplomatic missions, multilateral agencies, development partners, foundations, philanthropists, and the international community to join NCWS in delivering this landmark initiative. Your partnership represents an investment in peace, democracy, women leadership, national stability, and the future of Nigeria”.
To make the summit a success, the organisers call on organizations and corporate bodies to become a strategic partner through financial sponsorship, institutional collaboration, or in-kind support.
“Your investment will directly contribute to empowering women as peace builders,” the statement concludes.
