Gunmen kill security officers, abduct INEC’s staff

Two security agents were on Saturday killed by gunmen in Katsina, and kidnapped three ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The security officers killed were a policeman and an official of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The State Police Command confirmed that the killings and abduction took place during the governorship and state assembly election in the state on Saturday.

The police announced that the civil defence officer was killed in a separate attack while on election duty.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isa, in two separate statements on Saturday in Katsina, said the policeman, Cpl Mannir Usman, was killed while on election patrol at Gobirawa Falale, Danmusa Local Government area of the state.
