Electricity workers call off one day strike

A one-day strike action meant to draw  attention of the federal government to the plight of electricity workers in the country has been called off.

National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) said it suspended the strike embarked on Wednesday following a meeting with officials of the federal government.

According the National President of NUEE, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who confirmed the outcome of the meeting to THISDAY, the workers’ grievances were conclusively addressed.

“We have concluded deliberations and all issues were addressed but we are awaiting implementation. Meanwhile, our strike action is suspended,” Ajaero said.
