
ARCON announces Yinka Adebayo Chairman Special Recognition Awards Committee
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has named Yinka Adebayo, Group Executive Director, Omnicom Media Group West & Central Africa, as Chairman of a newly inaugurated Special Recognition Awards Committee.
The Committee is saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the planning, coordination, and successful execution of the forthcoming ARCON Special Recognition and Advertising Standards Panel (ASP) Awards Ceremony.
According to a statement from the regulatory body, the awards program is designed to recognize and reward advertisers, agencies, media organizations, and other industry stakeholders that have demonstrated exemplary compliance with advertising regulations and best practices. It will also celebrate public and private sector organizations for their outstanding
contributions to responsible marketing communications, while honoring distinguished individuals whose leadership, innovation, and commitment have positively shaped ethical standards and professional excellence within the
industry.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in Lagos, marked the formal commencement of preparations for the awards program, which is expected to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, professionals, corporate organizations, regulators, and other key stakeholders across Nigeria’s marketing communications ecosystem.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Director General of ARCON, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, charged members of the committee to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, professionalism, and fairness in the discharge of their responsibilities.
According to him, the awards are intended to celebrate individuals and organizations whose outstanding contributions have advanced the growth, development, innovation, compliance culture, and ethical practice of Nigeria’s
advertising and marketing communications industry.
“This committee has been entrusted with an important responsibility. The credibility of the awards will depend on a process that is transparent, inclusive, and guided by excellence. We are confident that the caliber of individuals appointed to serve will ensure that the awards remain a respected platform for recognizing merit and inspiring higher standards across the industry.”
The committee has been mandated to develop the awards framework, establish nomination and assessment procedures, coordinate stakeholder engagement, supervise the selection process, mobilize partnerships and sponsorship opportunities where necessary, and ensure the successful delivery of the awards ceremony.
The statement noted that members of the committee were carefully selected based on their professional competence, industry experience, integrity, and commitment to advancing excellence within the marketing communications sector.
Expressing his appreciation for the confidence reposed in the members and pledged their collective commitment to delivering a credible, inclusive, and memorable awards program, Yinka Adebayo said: “We recognize the significance of this assignment and the expectations that accompany it.
