TRCN to disqualify teachers who aid exam malpractice

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) had said any teacher found culpable in examination malpractice would have his teaching licence cancelled.

The council said in a statement on Friday that cheating in exams is a breach of the code of ethics for the teaching profession and the TRCN Cap T3 of 2004.

TRCN Registrar Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye said the council would not waste time to disqualify any teacher who aid in exam cheating.

He said the occurrence of examination malpractice at any level of education poses a great threat to the validity and authenticity of the credentials given by the sector.

He said a Teachers’ Investigating Panel would conduct preliminary investigation into allegation of professional misconduct such as cheating in exams and refer such cases to the Teachers Disciplinary Committee for its final verdict.
