SuperSport’s expert analyst, Ojeikere Aikhoje, receives recognition for Sports Industry development

University of Benin Alumni Association (UBAA), Lagos Branch, is set to honour SuperSport’s expert analyst and Founder of Sports Industry Awards Nigeria, Ojeikere Aikhoje.

Aikhoje, a renowned sports brand strategist, football business expert, and media entrepreneur, is being honoured in recognition of his remarkable contributions to sports development, sports media, and brand communications in Nigeria.

The award ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Sheba Centre in Lagos and is expected to attract distinguished alumni, business leaders, professionals, and notable personalities from different sectors.

The event forms part of activities lined up for the hosting of the 105th Council Meeting of the University of Benin Alumni Association Lagos Branch, slated for June 11 to 13, 2026.

Aikhoje, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Benin, has built an impressive reputation within Nigeria’s sports industry through years of innovation, strategic leadership, and commitment to promoting excellence in football and sports business.

Co-Founder of the League Bloggers Awards (LBA), and Chief Executive Officer of MatchRoom Sports and Media Limited. Through these platforms, he has consistently championed initiatives aimed at recognizing outstanding achievements across the Nigerian sports ecosystem.

Widely respected for his expertise in sports branding, public relations, and football business development, Aikhoje has played a key role in elevating the profile of Nigerian sports through strategic media engagement, stakeholder collaborations, and innovative sports marketing campaigns.

According to the University of Benin Alumni Association, Lagos Branch, the Award of Excellence is reserved for distinguished alumni who have demonstrated exceptional professional achievements and contributed meaningfully to national development and society.

Reacting to the recognition, Aikhoje described the honour as both humbling and inspiring.

Aikhoje is affiliated with several respected professional and social organizations, including the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN), Football Coaches Association of African Nations, Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, and Ikoyi Club 1938.

With decades of experience spanning sports branding, media strategy, public relations, stakeholder engagement, and football administration, Aikhoje has remained a strong advocate for excellence and professionalism within the Nigerian sports industry.
