Spirit of Africa Festival announces inaugural gathering in Nairobi

...To drive intra-continental tourism and cultural integration

The Spirit of Africa Festival officially announced its inaugural gathering, scheduled to take place from October 6–8, 2026, at the landmark Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.

Established to foster intra-continental travel, creative collaboration, and  integration across Africa, the platform, a premier cultural gathering brings together music, fashion, art, gastronomy, and business dialogue into a single immersive experience and serve as a catalyst for connecting African travelers, creatives, and tourism industry leaders, organisers have said.

Held in strategic partnership with the Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE 2026) and endorsed by the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), the three-day festival introduces a transformative model designed to catalyze intra-African tourism through cross-disciplinary creative exchange.

With theme “Africa, In One Place,” the initiative directly addresses a long-standing paradox within the continent’s tourism architecture: while global travelers visit Africa in record numbers, intra-continental leisure travel between African nations remains largely underdeveloped due to fragmented market platforms and isolated national promotions.

Bridging Commerce and Living Culture

By co-locating alongside East Africa’s premier travel trade exhibition, the Spirit of Africa Festival builds a physical intersection where international buyers, hospitality leaders, and policy-makers can interface directly with the cultural catalysts driving destination appeal.

The three-day programme features curated showcases spanning six key verticals: music and performing arts, fashion and design, gastronomy, visual arts, dialogue and thought leadership, and heritage.

“African music, fashion, and art have never respected political borders. Yet, our formal tourism platforms have historically operated in silos. Spirit of Africa creates a deliberate space where the business of travel meets the living culture that makes African destinations compelling,” says Clara Chinwe Okoro,  Initiative Strategist.

According to the organiser, core pillars of the festival include, Gastronomy, Fashion, Music, Visual Arts, Trade Dialogue and Community.

Interested participants are enjoined to visit the festival’s official portal for trade delegates registration, media accreditation, and ticket sales.
