Nigerian Army enlists 3,878 new soldiers
Nigerian Army on Saturday enlisted 3,878 new soldiers.
Speaking at the passing out parade (POP), the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Yusuf Tukur Buratai, said the Nigerian Army is undergoing series of restructuring, where it would no longer be necessary to seek the services of external hands to effectively carry out its operations.
The Passing Out Parade (POP) of the soldiers, is the 77th Regular Recruits Intake.
Buratai urged officers and men of the Army to continue to demonstrate professionalism and selflessness in the defence of Nigeria’s integrity from both internal and external aggression.
He added; “the innovations we are introducing in the training of recruits is one area that would make us self-sustaining in the field.
“So, we don’t need to rely anymore on external hands to repair our vehicles, mend our cloths, tyres etcetera. The various skills training given to the recruits would make this possible. As you have seen, aside military training, some of them have been trained as cobblers, computer operators, tailors, mechanics etcetera,” he said.
