
Nestle Nigeria, Goldberg, Checkers Custard, others emerge winner at MediaConsortium Award 2023

Beverage manufacturing giant and positive lifestyle advocate, Nestle Nigeria, beer brand, Goldberg and leading custard brand, Checkers custard, emerged winners at the maiden edition of the MediaConsortium Conference and Awards (MCCA) 2023 held recently at the prestigious Sheraton Hotels and Towers in Ikeja, Lagos.
The conference with the theme “Consumer Journey in a Digital Age: Prospects and Challenges, was organized by Media Consortium, a brand, business, and marketing publication, with the aim of creating a platform of convergence for different stakeholders to foster the use of digital to address the challenges brands face in building better brand-consumer relation and also to reward brands, agencies and individuals whose contributions have helped in improving the consumer journey.
The winners emerged victorious in different categories.
Positive lifestyle advocate and beverage company, Nestlé Nigeria emerged the Sustainability Focused Company of the Year 2023, while Checkers Custard won the Custard brand of the year 2023 Award.
In the beer category, Goldberg emerged the Beer brand of the Year 2023, Bigi Cola won the Friendly Brand of the Year 2023 and Nutri-Milk, won the Non-Alcoholic Brand of the Year 2023.
In the Brand Journalist category, Akin Adewakun of Nigerian Tribune emerged winner while Mrs. Tolulope Medebem was voted Outstanding Experiential Marketer of the Year 2023.

The maiden event which attracted key players within the marketing communications space and allied sectors, had two keynote address from professionals from the conventional and digital marketing space.
In his keynote address, Tony Agenmonmen, the Immediate Past President, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, said the rise of the digital era has fundamentally transformed the way we interact, purchase, and engage with products and services.
He also explained that the challenges in the digital consumer journey in Nigeria are enormous. Some of these are the digital divide, data privacy concerns, information overload, security risks, infrastructure limitations, and competition in a crowded space.
On his part, Obafemi Darabidan, Chief Operating Officer, Clan Africa, who took the second keynote address, said the digital age has ushered in several exciting prospects for businesses that can adapt to the evolving consumer journey. He added that consumers are becoming more concerned about their online privacy and urged businesses to maintain transparency in data collection and usage.
According to him, “The digital age has fundamentally altered how consumers interact with brands, products or services, offering both opportunities and challenges for businesses. Those who adapt to this shifting landscape and embrace digital channels stand to thrive in this era.”
In his welcome address, Adetunji Faleye, co-convener, MCCA said the event was conceptualized to be the foremost thought leadership platform to dissect industry issues, share insights, and reward outstanding brands and individuals for their contributions to the industry, consumer journey, and the business landscape.
