Coronavirus: Nigeria records first death
A former managing director of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Suleiman Achimugu, has been confirmed as the first recorded death from coronavirus in Nigeria.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) which confirmed the death in its update on the virus, said the late Achimugu died at 2am on Monday.
It said the 67-year-old deceased had underlying medical issues and had been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and only returned to the country recently.
The deceased, a native of Kogi state, was said to have returned from the UK two weeks ago.
