Oba Eshugbayi takes the stage

Play lovers will be thrilled this yuletide season as Oba Eshugbayi hits the stage in December.

Oba Eshugbayi is a story of romance, tribulation and emancipation which brings together the very rich cultural heritage of Lagos and the very colourful and insightful traditions of the Efik people who inhabit the exotic banks of the Cross River, in South Eastern Nigeria.

Oba Eshugbayi comes up December 24, 25 and 26 2018, at the Agip Recital hall of the Muson centre, Lagos.

The play, according to Duke of Shomolu Productions, a recently formed theatre and media production company, will see a fine mix of veteran acts and fresh young but massively talented acts come together to put up performances that would not only leave the audience in awe but will throw up to the fore the continuous need to pass down our traditions and culture to the next generation.

Femi Branch who today is one of the most charismatic players in the Industry is Oba Eshugbayi.

Other acts in the epic production are Legendary Yinka DaviesTall Thin Tony of the Big Brother Naija fame and Ayobami Shodimu, daughter to showbiz impresario Yemi Shodimu and a host of others.

Ayo is a versatile player who has carried out very important and award winning productions internationally, including some very exciting showings on stage in critically y acclaimed productions in the UK. She would be making her stage debut at the Muson this December. She is expected to bring in a fresh and beautifully enticing heat with her romantic liaisons with Tony’s character in Oba Eshugbayi.

According to Edgar Joseph Investment Banker and Theatre Producer, Oba Eshugbayi is the latest in its Heritage Series where epic productions with strong historical leanings would continue to be staged in a strong bid to “tell our story through performance’’.  It is in this regard, that the Duke of Shomolu Production platform has been set up to be the home of these productions.

The play is written and directed by William Benson and executive produced by Joseph Edgar and Olisa Adibua with Yemi Shodimu and Mofoluwake Oriyomi Edgar as Producers.
