Huawei partners Nigerian universities for ICT contest
More than 10,000 students from about 15 Nigerian universities will participate in an ICT competition to be sponsored by Huawei.
The tech firm says the idea is to develop local talents.
The competition, which is in partnership with some Nigerian universities, will help propel students’ interest in ICT and develop a healthy ecosystem for the sustainable growth of the sector.
The contest will feature learning of various ICT subjects including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, mobile networks and big data.
According to Daily Trust, some of the selected institutions include the University of Nigeria (UNN), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Lead City University (LCU), America University of Nigeria (AUN) and Federal University Technology Akure (FUTA).
The Managing Director of Huawei Enterprise Nigeria, Tank Li, said: “As an international ICT innovator, we are committed to working with our academic and industrial partners in Nigeria to create more opportunities for individuals, and businesses in the country.”
“So far, more than 20,000 students have signed up to participate. Winners of the contest in Nigeria will have opportunity to participate in the regional finals in South Africa and global finals at Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China,” the firm said.
