‎The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, ARCON, has said that, the future of advertising cannot be shaped by one stakeholder alone, rather by a collaboration of all stakeholders in the ecosystem.

‎The advertising regulatory body said this through its Director General, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo at the 4th Advertising Industry Colloquium, held on Thursday, In Ikeja, Lagos.

‎The AIC is a stakeholders engagement that bridges the gap between town and gown.

‎Speaking during his welcome address, Dr. Fadolapo emphasised that, the collaboration will be such that will inspire innovation, stakeholders who drive creativity and ethical practice, and a regulatory framework that promotes trust, protects consumers, and supports sustainable industry growth.

‎”Through constructive dialogue and collaboration, we can build an advertising ecosystem that is resilient, globally competitive, and responsive to the changing needs of society”.

‎Fadolapo who hailed the Advertising Industry Colloquium said the AIC continues to serve as an important platform for bringing together thought leaders, regulators, practitioners, academia, and emerging professionals to exchange ideas on the future of advertising and marketing communications in Nigeria.

‎According to the DG, the theme for this year’s Colloquium, “The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulation”, reflects the opportunities and responsibilities that accompany the rapid transformation of our industry.  “As technology reshapes communication and digital platforms continue to influence consumer engagement, the need for responsible innovation, professional excellence, and effective regulation has never been more critical”.

‎He pointed that he was confident the discussions and insights from today’s Colloquium will inspire fresh thinking, strengthen partnerships, and contribute meaningfully to the continued advancement of the advertising profession in Nigeria.

‎The EXMAN President and Chief Executive, Aster Integrated Marketing affirmed that the theme, “The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulation,” is not only timely—it is necessary.

‎”We are living through one of the most significant periods of transformation in the history of marketing communications.
‎Technology is evolving at an unprecedented pace.
‎Digital platforms continue to redefine how brands communicate.
‎Artificial Intelligence is reshaping creativity, content development and consumer engagement.
‎Consumers are more informed, more connected and more discerning than ever before”.

‎She posited that in many ways, the rules of engagement are being rewritten before our very eyes. Yet, amidst all these remarkable changes, one truth remains constant.

‎”Advertising has always been, and will always be, about people. Platforms will continue to evolve. Technology will continue to advance. Regulation will continue to adapt. But ultimately, our work succeeds only when it connects with people, earns their trust and creates experiences that are authentic, memorable and meaningful.”

‎According to her, that is why today’s gathering was particularly inspiring even as she said: It is a conversation that intentionally brings together practitioners and students, today’s leaders and tomorrow’s innovators.
