ARCON condemns unapproved Bokku Supermarket advert

A series of unapproved and offensive Bokku Supermarket advertisements circulating widely on various social media platforms have been condemned by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).

ARCON in a statement signed by it’s Director General, Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, described the advertisements as “unlawful, divisive, and contrary to Nigeria’s national values.”

The advertising regulatory body clarified that the controversial advertisements were not submitted for vetting or approval by its Advertising Standards Panel (ASP), as required by Nigerian advertising laws.

According to ARCON, the action clearly breach the ethical standards of practice and pose a serious threat to social harmony.

“ARCON says it will necessary steps, including sanctions and legal redress, to enforce compliance,” even as it assures Nigerians of its continuous committment to work towards building a more decent and protective advertising environment in Nigeria.
