Ẹ̀gbáliganza 2025: organiser set to revive indigenous fabric industry, other initiatives
Organisers of Ẹ̀gbáliganza 2025 is aiming at reviving and globalizing the adire and indigenous fabric industry, among other initiatives.
This was made known in a press conference held on March 11, 2025, at the Erelu Yeye Oodua Renaissance Centre, which set the foundation for what promises to be a historic cultural event.
Hosted by the Lai Labode Heritage Foundation, with the Lisabi Committee and the Egba Legacy Network as key supporting partners, this press conference marked the unveiling of the grand vision behind Ẹ̀gbáliganza 2025.
More than just a gathering, this was a call to action—a declaration that Ẹ̀gbá culture, fashion, and heritage are not just to be remembered but to be lived and transformed into a thriving economic force.
The event brought together distinguished stakeholders, industry experts, and cultural custodians, all sharing the mission of redefining heritage through innovation, creativity, and enterprise.
A major highlight of the press conference was the unveiling of the $1 billion fashion and textile market value chain. As part of its target, the initiative will focus on reviving and globalizing the adire and indigenous fabric industry through structured training programs, business support, and international partnerships.
By equipping artisans, designers, and textile entrepreneurs with modern tools and access to larger markets, Ẹ̀gbáliganza is positioning Ẹ̀gbáland as a global hub for authentic African fashion.
Chief Lai Labode Osi Apagun PhD, who is the visionair behind Ẹ̀gbáliganza noted that, the project is more than just an economic venture.
“This is about legacy. It is about ensuring that the skills, traditions, and craftsmanship of the Ẹ̀gbá people do not fade away. We are building an industry that will not only celebrate our past but also secure our future.”
Chief Yemi Lawal, Chairman of Ẹ̀gbáliganza, highlighted the deep connection between this event and the iconic Lisabi Festival. “Ẹ̀gbáliganza is not just an event; it is a bridge between our proud past and our ambitious future. It complements the Lisabi Festival by adding a contemporary layer to our heritage, ensuring that the world sees not just where we come from but also where we are going.”
