Lagos gives three-month discount for motorists to replace faded, unreadable number plates

The Lagos State Government has approved a three-month discount window for vehicle owners to replace faded and unreadable number plates.
The state says, the move is aimed at improving road safety and enhancing security across the state.

Approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and announced by the Permanent Secretary of the Motor Vehicles Administration Agency, Rasheed Muri-Okunola, the initiative described as a citizen-friendly measure, the rebate is designed to encourage voluntary compliance while reducing the financial burden on motorists.

Clear and legible number plates are critical for traffic management, crime detection, and digital vehicle tracking, the government said, noting that faded or unreadable plates create challenges for law enforcement agencies.
